Pine & Crane in Downtown LA is a casual Taiwanese restaurant featuring a highly-appraised breakfast menu.

The successor to Vivian Ku’s popular Pine & Crane Silverlake features a larger menu and breakfast that’s served everyday from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.

The breakfast menu offers long-time Pine & Crane classics like Pan Fried Pork Buns and Thousand Layer Pancakes, alongside new dishes like the Dan Bing, an egg-crepe combo with garlic-like soy sauce and simpler dishes like the Fan Tuan, Daikon Rice Cakes and Chive and Egg pocket.

Our favorite breakfast item has to be the Thousand Layer Pancake. The crispy exterior, savory garlic sauce and melted american cheese, all wrapped in like a taco creates a combination of flavors and textures that can hardly be matched.

The runner up is the Pan Fried Pork Buns. These come out hot and fresh with a soft interior and crispy-bottom that’s so satisfying to eat, it’s almost addicting. Did I forget to mention there are six of these little fluffy buns? This is an untouchable Pine & Crane staple.

Once inside the sun-lit interior, sky-high ceilings, and patio breezes, all come together to provide a welcoming and pleasant ambiance.

The menus live next to the flower bouquets and a mini-mart next to the cashier features in-house items, books and more.

After ordering, find a seat and the food will soon follow.

The dishes come out super quick and due to the exorbitant portions you might find yourself with too much food, but don’t worry Pine & Crane leftovers are the best!!!
